Students in the Care

The Office for Students in the Care of D.C. (SCDC) works to create a world where every youth and young adult who comes into contact with the child welfare, juvenile justice and criminal justice system in the District of Columbia, receives high quality educational and workforce development services and supports that addresses their needs, builds on their strengths, and empowers them to succeed.

Coordinating Committee

The SCDC office is guided by the SCDC Coordinating Committee. The SCDC Coordinating Committee is charged with developing recommendations for changes in District policies, programs and procedures that impact students in the care of D.C. The SCDC Coordinating Committee is legislatively mandated to identify challenges and resolve issues that students in detainment, commitment, incarceration and foster care face in order to improve educational and workforce development outcomes.

Additional information about the newly appointed SCDC Coordinating Committee and upcoming meetings is forthcoming.
